Is there any website that has the story you told this morning about the Rosenberg woman being hassled by our government?

Thanks and so glad you’re back on the air.

  2. Kathryn Chrisman says:

    Dear Edd,
I was listening to your outrage this morning on the Catherine Engelbrect issue. I have spent the 2 hours since trying to read what is being published relating to her specific story.

I started with Drudge. Nothing. But I left a suggestion in the suggestion box.
Then I went to LauraIngraham. Again, nothing, but again I left a suggestion.
Then I went to Breitbart. Bless them, they ran an article relating the targeting of True the Vote to a letter written by our own Sheila Jackson Lee demanding DOJ investigate voter intimidation in Harris County. Following other links through Breitbart, I came across the following article:
The American Spectator writer, Jeffrey Lord, has written a detailed article – “Obama and the IRS: The Smoking Gun”
Edd, this is a MUST READ. White House visitor log shows that the president of the IRS labor union met personally with Obama himself on several occasions, including THE DAY BEFORE the IRS implemented their attack on Tea Party groups. I urge you to read this article, and forward it to the influential people you know. It blows the lid off Obama’s “ignorance defence” claim.

Hi Edd, during the health portion on your radio show this morning, I heard you say how your wife counsels your young employees at Taste of Texas before they go off to college (about health, morals etc). It made me think how I would love for our 17 yr. old daughter (she’ll be a senior at Memorial High School next year) to work there for you. Is there any chance you all could find a position for her? She’s eager and looking to start a job as soon as finals are over.

  6. David Lynch says:

    Edd,

Please email me, I want to share the canned response I received from my rep… Kevin (Cave-in) Brady, today in reply to my request that he demand a special investigation into Bengazi… Looks as canned as any other response I have ever received from a member of congress.

  7. Diane Muniz-Chong says:

I don’t see the link to the congressman Wolf (?) you mentioned this morning that has the resolution to investigate Benghazi, IRS and AP scandals. Please post and thanks for your patriotism!

  8. steven says:

I actually took the time to write a note to the whitehouse. Here’s their reply. I wonder if this is plain ignorance or their plain agenda….i believe the later.

    the response is below:

    Dear Steven:

Thank you for writing. I have heard from many Americans about Government spending and our national debt, and I appreciate your perspective.

This is a make-or-break moment for the middle class and those trying to reach it. After decades of eroding middle-class security and after a recession that plunged our economy into a crisis from which we are still fighting to recover, it is time to construct an economy built to last. To put our Nation back on a path of living within our means, we must cut wasteful spending, ask all Americans to shoulder their fair share, and make tough choices on some things we cannot afford.

Over the last few years, Democrats and Republicans have worked together to reduce the Federal deficit by more than $2.5 trillion—mostly through spending cuts, but also by raising tax rates on the wealthiest 1 percent of Americans. As a result, we are more than halfway toward the goal of $4 trillion in deficit reduction that economists say we need to stabilize our finances.

To hit the rest of our deficit reduction target, we must address the rising cost of health care for an aging population. The Affordable Care Act is helping us meet that challenge, and the entitlement reforms I have proposed would take us even further. But we should also do what leaders in both parties have already suggested, and save hundreds of billions of dollars by getting rid of tax loopholes and deductions for the well-off and the well-connected. The American people deserve a tax code that helps small businesses expand and hire, ensures billionaires cannot work the system and pay a lower rate than their hardworking secretaries, and reduces tax rates for businesses and manufacturers that are creating jobs right here at home.

We know these reforms will not be easy, and neither side will get 100 percent of what they want. But Congress must set party interests aside and work to pass a budget that replaces reckless cuts with smart savings and wise investments in the future. The greatest Nation on earth cannot keep conducting its business by drifting from one manufactured crisis to the next.

An economy built to last also demands we renew the American values of fair play and shared responsibility—principles that must guide our approach to solving our Nation’s deficit problem. Just as we extended middle-class tax cuts to help working families, I am pursuing the end of costly tax breaks and special deductions for the highest-income Americans and biggest corporations. I have repeatedly called on Congress to stop giving away $4 billion a year in oil and gas subsidies to an industry that has never been more profitable, and instead, to pass clean energy tax credits to cultivate a market for innovation in clean energy technology. I also proposed a fee on big banks and other major financial institutions to recoup taxpayer assistance that was crucial to saving our economy.

To prevent Congress from worsening our deficit outlook, I pushed for and signed into law pay-as-you-go rules for Congress—rules critical to creating the surpluses of the 1990s. Additionally, I established the Campaign to Cut Waste, which is aggressively rooting out misspent tax dollars, and sent Congress the Consolidating and Reforming Government Act to reinstate the authority past presidents have had to streamline the Executive Branch and create a leaner, more efficient Federal Government. Through these and other efforts, we can reduce the deficit and ensure a more stable future for our children.

Thank you, again, for writing. To learn more about our budget, please visit http://www.Budget.gov.

    Sincerely,

    Barack Obama

  12. Carter Crawford says:

Hello Edd. Keep up the hard work. Thanks for having our congressmen on for interviews. Over time, I believe John Cornyn has become a stronger senator. I am grateful for that.

I don’t feel Rep. Culberson has lived up to my expectations. He converted to “Washington speak” very quickly. I will try to come up with specifics.

Boener has been useless and I will write to request the Select Committee.

Recent article “Stand Your Ground” from Texas A&M Foundation Magzine “Spirit”, sounds very liberal from the study conducted by associte professor Hoekstra of Economics. I would like to respond to his liberal one side but need help. Very short article, how do I get it into your hands, I can PDF if you like.

Also I have been selected be A&M to be on a panel discussion for the Texas A&M 2020 project. Not sure what it is but I am guessing it has to do with the direction A&M is heading verus the way the system was ( which is the better way in my opion)any thoughts or questions I can ask next week.

Add to the list the 30 odd Seal team 6 killed in the helicopter. This event smacks of a set up to kill the seals.
One of the mothers of the team called and told his mother that he was scared and felt like they were targets, and he was also scared for her. She was on Fox telling this story in connection with Mothers day.
This should be on the list with all the other garbage coming out concerning this administration.

  17. Matt says:

    Edd,

Tell Congressman Brady to investigate the Information Technology side of the IRS. Look at the database files for Tea Party and other similar organizations.

The GAO CIO is Howard Williams, West Point class ’76 about as straight person as you will ever meet! His team should be put on this. He is also a retired Army Col.

As your caller said the IRS documents everything and Mr. Williams and team could run reports that will quickly illustrate the size and scope of the problem. This will circumvent any IRS management stalling! Could be down in a couple of weeks max, maybe days.

    Yes I am in IT.

    Thank You

  19. David Rutz says:

Edd – About the Joe on his wanting the Lt.Gen to be called, you can tell by the way he “thinks” about the military that “because” they thought they might get there late – they wouldn’t go at all. That’s 100,000,000% wrong – there’s not a military person out there that would go ANYWAY no matter whether they thought they would get there late or not, they would still go. He clearly has NEVER been in the Military.

And you should’ve asked him who “directs” the Military and the Chain of Command – and there’s only about three or four people who “CAN” give the Stand Down command. And a quick hint – NONE of them are a Military officer. The Military has 1,000′s of contingency plans for all these situations that automatically get going when an attack occurs – they don’t “need” permission. They can only be stopped from the top – i.e. from the White House.

  20. Shayne Saucier says:

    Mr. Heendee:

I really enjoy your show and think that you are a decent and honest guy however I am not certain why you felt the need to report any more news concerning Roger Clemens and his alleged steroid use. I agree that the government should spend their money and resources to better our country instead of going after athletes that may or may not have used steroids. If Roger Clements wants to put steroids in his body to further his career that’s his decision. I could care less.

Putting Roger Clemens doctor on the air is somehow suppose to clear his good name is a stretch. Athletes in college and pro do not go to their doctor to get steroids or human growth hormones. They generally go outside their doctor and use a personal trainer. I agree that McNamee is a shady character and his word leaves a lot of doubt in my mind. However, Mr. Clements associated himself with Mr. McNamee for many years. Why? “The old saying we are judged by the company we keep”. I do believe Andy Pettitte’s story and I think Rogers Clemens story is a little weak.

I am not certain why you feel the need to defend Roger Clements. Is it because you’re both in the same social circles or is it because you live close to each other?

I am not going to stop listening to your show but you did lose credibility with me by defending Roger Clemens.

    Shayne Saucier

Ed, was listening to Hannity yesterday when the drone pilot was on. I was amazed that he was telling his story. The station went blank on my radio for about 3-4 min at the tale end and came back for commercial and nothing was mentioned. you said you were going to comment on it but havnt heard your comment yet, Would like to hear if that conversation was brought up by any of the media. Thanks

  22. Toy LeVasseur says:

    Good Morning Mr. Hendee!
It’s sounding like we finally have some true conservative representation coming down the pike…especially with Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Mike Lee…people willing to stand their ground. How refreshing! The attention is on Ted Cruz…the media spotlight is starting to hone in on this young man. And as exciting as that is, we have seen too many times how this liberal media attacks and twists and attempts to destroy. I believe we should call ourselves together now…making a bold and strong profession of our faith and values…and cover Ted Cruz, his family, and anyone that is willing to stand with him in a blanket of PRAYER! May God supernaturally bless and protect this family. May He continue to give Ted Cruz the insight and willingness to stand strong on issues he feels so passionaltely about. Shall we pray?

Many blessings to you and yours-

    Edd,

I’m on your side. However, I do not understand the idea that doctors would see less people if their income is slashed?

If I were a doctor, and my income per patient decreased then I would increase the number of patients seen per day and reduce the face time with them. The downside I see is healthcare quality.

  25. Angela Blackburn says:

After posting a question this morning, I wondered, does Edd answer these by private email, or is this simply a comment posting page with nothing in return? I see all these comments with no replies to them. I don’t see what the point of that would be. ~A

  26. Angela Blackburn says:

I loved hearing about the Liberty Institute on your show this a.m! Another group I love, I’m sure you have heard about, is the ADF (Alliance Defending Freedom). They’re an awesome organization, too!
I do have 2 questions for you.
I heard you say on your Monday show that ‘Jesus HATED organized religion.’ 1) I wonder what you base that claim on?
Your comment would indicate to me that you, also, hate organized religion. If I thought Jesus hated something…I would want to hate that, too. I don’t agree & wonder:
    2) If you don’t like organized religion, do you prefer DISorganized religion?
~I do enjoy your show…just wondering,
    Angela

  27. Tom Comeaux says:

Religious people believe there is “something” higher than us. Atheists believe that there is “nothing” higher than us.

If adorning public property with “something” (such as a cross) equates to governmental endorsement of religion, then adorning public property with “nothing” equates to governmental endorsement of atheism.

  28. Javier says:

    Mr Hendy,
I often listen to your shown in the mornings although unfortunately, only for brief periods of time; I tend to align with most of the conservative views with the exception of the issue of illegal immigration and the way you address it which I believe has lots of prejudice towards illegal immigrants.
Today however, you were at the Brookwood community and got to learn a little of the wonderful work they are doing there. I believe today’s show served a greater cause and I want to congratulate you on that!
I hope you will do more shows like today’s.

  29. Rick Hall says:

  30. Scott Willis says:

    Edd,
I was listening to you and Senator Patrick conversing about the Fluggevile School board descission. There were comments about how the board could put the funding of the education of the children behind the social agenda. They did not put the children behind. Instead they put the social agrnda ahead. Daring the tax payers to hold them accountable for their actions. You see they are betting that we (taxpayers) will not allow the children’s education to suffer. It is now up to those of us eho will stand up now to say: 1 it is uncontitutional, and 2 you have appropriated your money as delighted you by the state so let the consequences come down. I agree with you and Senator Patrick, we must NOT wavier in our response to this. We must hold them accountable. And eventually with the tyre working if free markets and capitalism more alternative life style educators will flock to Fluggrrville and the public education system will fail to educate the children to the as well as the durrounding areas. I may investigate opening a private school there. Sounds like a calculated investment. We call that arbitraging liberalism.

  31. John McGillivray says:

This morning you referred to the two Maine senators as the “squish sisters.” You should know that Olympia Snowe retired on 1/3/13. She did not run for reelection last November. Her successor was Angus King. I agree with your sentiments most of the time, but you get facts wrong too many times to be helpful to the conservative cause.

    John McGillivray

  32. Doug says:

    Edd,

This morning you were asserting that the 9/11 attacks were only a result of Islamic terrorists. You stated that persons who believe these attacks could originate from American actions were “soulless individuals”.

I would like to challenge you as a Christian to consider the ideas put forth in the video The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment or the book The Harbinger by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. Within these, the case is made that God is recreating the events within Isaiah in order to try to return America to its heritage of being a moral, Christian nation in order to avert calamity. The parallels between the two stories are amazing. I would be interested to know your opinion after researching these theories.

    Dear Edd Hendee:

I called Del Frisco’s corporate office in Southlake, Texas. The woman, who said she was named “Heather,” that answered the phone hung up on me three times. I called again and asked to talk to someone about David Letterman calling Ted Cruz “Stooge of the Day.” She stated that she would put me on the phone with someone. She claims that she put the phone in the hand of Mark S. Mednansky, the CEO of Del Frisco’s Restaurant Group, Inc. This gentlemen claimed that Del Frisco’s did not sponsor the segment and that Del Frisco’s only involvement with Letterman’s show was that the show purchased 10 gift cards. I asked him if that was true why did they say that Del Frisco’s sponsored the segment. He said he did not know, but frankly he did not care. He said that he was a good Republican, but it is stupid complaints like mine that makes him not want to be a Republican any longer. He told me that I needed to learn to take a joke and that he was not going to say a word to the Letterman show. He then hung up on me. I called back and Heather said that I really did talk to the CEO and I responded that I thought a CEO was be more professional. He did not seem like a CEO. He seemed very unprofessional and petulant. Heather hung up on me one more time. They stopped answering the phone.

    Best Regards,
    Mike

I wrote a children’s book called “Molly’s Pollywogs” about our family’s recovery from this, and I’d like to send you a copy. If you’re willing to accept this, please email me.

I am happy to hear about the way your son’s memory is being honored.

Cannot find how to make a donation to the Houston woman injured in the Boston marathon .

  41. David Albrecht says:

    Edd,

Which do you prefer, knowing these weirdos worked alone to bomb the marathon or that they worked with a terror cell? Either way, it’s a loose/loose for the Obama Administration.

    1) If it’s a terror cell, Obama hasn’t won the war on terror by killing UBL (OBL). I feel better knowing it’s this option because we have a target to go get in Russia or the East.

    2) It’s a couple of crazy brothers who did this on their own. This option should scare the heck out of everyone. This means that there are countless others waiting to set off bombs and kill our children and we have no idea who they are. They hate us because we are US. We don’t have a target and they already hate us so what is our objective now?

I was able to speak to you a couple of days ago about the older brother getting into Russia and back to the US without detection. You jokingly said it was like a Jack Bauer movie but it seems you gave our intelligence too much credit. A spelling error allowed him to move about feely.

    Lord help us.

    God Bless, brother.

  42. Tom Crum says:

I listened to you this morning – 4/23 – and totally agree with your assessment that something is funny with the quick wrap up of the 2 bombers were in it alone, etc.

There is something funny about the entire Gov’t responsiveness since Obama was elected —– almost as though (1) Obama and team are part of the bad guys (2) or, the bad guys are blackmailing them – or have something on them or us —- such as, is it possible the bad guys (Islamists e.g) already have a nuclear capability “inside our borders” – and are using to obtain Obama favor on everything.

All I know is — if it looks like a skunk, smells like a skunk —- then it is probably a skunk. Obama and team are not Americans by my definition.

And if he was sworn in to protect the Constitution, and is obviously not doing it by choice —- then to me, he should be guilty of not performing his duty and be impeached ……

I love the way the Benghazi and Fast and Furious situations just go away (with help of no press time) —–

    what a shame —–

  43. Johnny says:

    Hey Edd –

I just happened to tune in and hear you talking about Life Flight this morning. As it happens, today is my Life Flight anniversary. Or maybe it’s Life Flight birthday, since I did not die in a ditch on April 23, 1990. I ran a motorcycle into the back of a stopped car at about 70MPH in La Porte. In about 15 minutes I was in the air.

Important comment re the bombing- that Saudi who was “coincidentally” standing near where the first bomb exploded- I don’t buy it. The Saudi’s are the principal funders of terrorism. Who wants to bet me that this guy was a member of their cell? It just doesn’t make sense that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, no way.

WoW!!!! I’m amazed at your blatant bigotry this morning. I can understand being upset at these terrorists, but really blaming all those here on student visas? The Indians, British, Chinese, Germans, Austrailians etc because some freaks set off bombs – and they weren’t even on student visas? What the heck? Are you still trying to justify your jumping to conclusions on the previous 2 “suspects” who were not guilty at all? Are you still trying to justify that all Muslims are terrorists? Would you allow a Muslim to eat at your restaurant, or do you have a sign up that says “Christians only” What kind of isolationist, bigoted world do you live in? These two guys deserve whatever they get, but the Indian in NY that got beat this week for being Muslim and the guy in Boston that was wrongly accused of being a Muslim do not deserve to be blamed for the actions of others…… unless they live in your world. Of course though, conservatives have never been strong on civil rights.

I was amazed, when I got to the register, the young lady behind the counter asked me how I was doing, and I said I was great until I saw the lady in front of me pay for her birthday cake with the Lone Star Card…she said yeah, they can buy sushi too.

I only wish I could have followed her out to the parking lot to see what kind of car she was driving…bet it was nicer than my old Saturn. Needless to say, I paid for my food with hard earned after tax dollars with no help from Uncle Sam.

  60. Greg Edwards says:

    Hello Edd,

I was wondering if you might be interested in a consumer issue that involves a few issues like public, safety, fraud, anti-competitive actions of large regional entities….

    It’s a local story (mine!)concerning concerning:
    - complete brake failure while driving
    - exorbitant repair costs overcharges
    - collusion by members of the Gulf States Toyota against consumers
    - fraudulent repairs passed on to consumers.

I’d be very interested to hear back from you….there are thousands on Toyota cars on the road and everyone knows someone that drives one if they don’t themselves.
    Regards,
    Greg

We pay $750 a month inc. our medigap and good doctors will not
see us BECAUSE OF THAT DESPICABLE PERSON LIVING IN OUR WHITE HOUSE.

I had ROBOTIC SURGERY in Ky. last year…Thank our Lord.
NECESSARY…complete hysterectomy, bladder and rectum lifted.

THIS NOW I FEEL WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW

Of course they are gun free zones..I agree those are silly signs and rules

My point is these things are not happening all at the same campus. I have a daughter at one of these campuses and if everything was happening at one campus, I would be pulling her out of there.

  64. Matt Roark says:

The stabbing and shooting were NOT on the same campus

The shooting was at the North Harris Campus East of I-45 off 1960.

The stabbing was at the Cy-Fair campus about 30 miles away.

  67. John Hesse says:

    Edd,

I wanted to add something to the info on North Korea – Obama has already lost this round with NK. In December NK launched a 3 stage rocket that could carry a nuclear warhead. In past years NK attempts have failed some due to US military technology intervention that made it look like the rocket failed with in 45 seconds of launch. Obama did not deploy the systems to kill the launch in December. Now Kim Jung Un thinks he has the delivery vehicle to get to the US, it is unknown ,but believed based on current intelligent estimates that NK has not developed the nuke device that will fit on the rocket. Plus Kim Jung Un must prove himself as a strong leader and make the US back down. You are correct we are quickly approaching a point of no return. The important thing will be volume of fire and target selection. What will it take to stop all NK agression and mitigate the NK response. Some simple rules we need fight to win (not like we have done in the GWOT)and we can not win a defensive war nobody in history has ever won a war on defense. We have the tool and technology to do most of what we need to do with limited boots on the ground, but we will need to distroy the NK’s will to make war.

Kim Jung Un is fighting off a potential coup d’état and demonstrating panic.

By ratcheting up the rhetoric and moving troops, he is attempting to split the coup and scatter the “traitors” out of the capital.

If any commanding officer disobeys are even hesitates…they are dead.

He is walking a very fine line and buying time…but there will be no pre-emptive strike by S Korea or us.

  70. Doug Branham says:

Actually, there is a difference between a clip and a magazine, at least in military parlance. The clip, such as the M-1 “en bloc” clip, help 8 cartridges by their bases. Most of the cartridge bodies were exposed. On the other hand,
magazines contain the whole cartridge and usually hold many more than a clip.

  72. Curt Kates says:

    Edd,

Man, what’s the deal with the hate for the Astros? I was listening this morning just before 7am, and the sports guy went off on the Astros owner like it was a personal vendetta.

I know the team is doing some unconventional (maybe smart, maybe not?) things to rebuild, and we can agree or disagree with whither or not it is the best way to go, but WOW, it sure seems like the Astros have offended somebody badly.

For the record, I like what they are doing, and I think it makes a lot of sense. I have chosen to support them and our company bought some tickets this year. But, I’m sure there are plenty who disagree with me – maybe most.

Enjoy your show, but ouch! Is there something personal going on?

    Curt Kates

  73. Vickie McGraw says:

I wonder if it would be better is the Republican senators would rescind their pledge to filibuster the background check bill. Wouldn’t it be fun to see the Democrat senators up for re-election have to vote on the bill?
    Do you think they would:
    1) Follow Harry Reid and risk their re-elections?
    2) Would they follow the example of Senator Barack Obama and not vote on the bill
    3) Would they do what their constituents want and vote against the bill?

  76. Mike Alderman says:

Hi, Edd – sure enjoy listening to you. You sure seem to be well grounded and know what you’re talking about.

We had to go to the Texas Insurance Pool several years ago when my wife had cancer. Her insurer would not renew. We got coverage through the pool but was very expensive.

Heard a caller mention his coverage through the pool and wanted to add the following.

As of Jan. 2014 coverage will cease through the pool as everyone will be able to get insurance from any insurer regardless of pre-existing conditions. I’m sure the cost will be more and the problems will be great.

  78. John says:

Do you realize that Mayor Parker is part of Mayor Bloomberg’s attack group on the 2nd Amendment(Mayors Against Illegal Guns?

Even if we assume that she is right and it is a good idea to do away with the 2nd Amendment and that doing away with it would save lives (I of course disagree), they why not do away with the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Amendment and save more lives? Doing away with these rights certainly could save lives if we just locked up anyone who might be guilty of anything!

Fourth Amendment – Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.

Fifth Amendment – due process, double jeopardy, self-incrimination,

Sixth Amendment – Trial by jury and rights of the accused; Confrontation Clause, speedy trial, public trial, right to counsel

Eighth Amendment – Prohibition of excessive bail and cruel and unusual punishment.

  80. Bruce says:

Edd, I’m confused as to why you would oppose the stance Ron Paul has taken on hemp. You do realize that hemp and pot are not the same thing. Hemp is a plant that contains only trace amounts of THC and cannot get anybody high. To be more specific, if someone were stupid enough to make a hemp joint, they would have to smoke 50 hemp joints to get close to the same high as a low quality marijuana joint. The law that Ron Paul proposed on industrial hemp actually limits the THC content to be considered hemp.

Industry is clamouring for legalization of this plant. It is high quality and can be used for insulation, cloth, fiber reinforced plastics, building products etc. Check out the Lotus car that is built with hemp.

It is crazy stupid that our country outlaws a plant that has no drug content while importing the same plant material from other countries. Canada and Britian have legalized the production of hemp. Kentucky agriculture has proposed a hemp processing plant that would employ a couple hundred employees to process hemp into fiber for use in paper etc. Hemp would also reduce the number of trees that are cut down and is a renewable resource for bio-stock.

Please reconsider your stance on this issue and educate yourself and your listeners.

I don’t care where you stand on pot; we can argue the merits of legalized drugs and I could see your point on drugs even if I disagree. But hemp is not a drug and is an economic crop that we should be taking advantage of in our country.

    Thanks.

  81. Avery Brown says:

My wife wanted me to send her thoughts to you. I wanted to talk to you about what I’ve been thinking. This whole thing with Obama is not about America or the American people. I believe we are being conned and maniplulated by Obama and his people. Immigration really bothers me. I don’t mind immigration but to use them to destroy this country is terrible. Obama thinks like an immigrant or should I say illegal? He does not respect the constitution. He is not a patriot. “We The People” he goes after and illegal immigration he protects. Flood American people with immigrants, get the numbers(Dem votes), and run over the constitution. Then the core of America disappears. This will give them permanent numbers for a very long time. I think you have to be a legal immigrant to join a union? This what or the way I see it, BIG GOVERNMENT-THE U.N.-UNIONS. He said he needed another four years to finish the job. They always talk about the rich but they want their money. They don’t even want us to have our money. Motive. Motive. Motive. Every time Obama drives something I wonder why? When he came into office he came in running. He knew how he was going to mold this situation. This man is very strategic. The things he should do he doesn’t do and the things he does he doesn’t need to do. Where is the protection for Americans? The let in anyong and everyone. There is no protection for us. I protect my home better than they do this country. Just what are thy paid for?

We no longer expect parents to feed their children? With 48 million now on food stamps, and we spend too much on EBT/Lone Star cards, the SNAP program and numerous charities, yet the educrats still find ways to expand the reliance upon the wastefull nanny state. The blissfully ignorant parents send our innocent children to Marxist-influenced indoctrination centers to learn how to chant “Obama, Obama, Obama.” Next taxpayers will be buying them all cute uniforms with brown shirts as the children now are being raised by the Government.

  83. Kim says:

Very concerned about future elections. The far left is not about to relinquish control and have their policies reversed now that the’ve gotten this far. After “commandeering” several races in the last election, there doesn’t seem to be any mechanisms in place to prevent it from happening again. Acorn, or whatever they are calling themselves this week, is already mobilizing for 2016. If we are ever to get this country back on its feet again, then the most important discussion we need to be having right now is the security of our election systems.

    Edd:

Here is another one for you…..

Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Stevens 320 12
gauge shotgun right in the doorway. I gave it 6 shells, and noticing
that it had no legs, I even placed it in my wheelchair to help it get
    around.

I left it alone and went about my business. While I was gone, the
mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor boy across the street mowed
the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars
stopped at the stop sign right in front of our house.

When I checked on the gun, it was still sitting there in the
wheelchair right where I had left it. It hadn’t rolled itself outside.
It certainly hadn’t killed anyone, even with the numerous
opportunities it had been presented to do so. In fact, it hadn’t even
    loaded itself.

Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the media hype about how
dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is
wrong, and it’s the misuse of guns by PEOPLE that kills people, or I’m
in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

Alright, well I’m off to check on my spoons. I hear they’re making people
    fat.

  86. Eric Copt says:

    Edd:

I listen to you most morning and really relish the pressure and facts that you are putting on the present administration. Please use the information in the below email as you wish.

I can’t believe that this President and his Democratic following think that the American public is so ignorant and backward that no one would do the math on the his recent request to his cabinet to cut $100 million from this years $3.5 trillion federal budget for 2013. Are you kidding me?

Where is the news media, print, radio and TV? Where are the Republican Congressional Representatives and Senators?

I am so impressed by the Presidents request for sacrifice that I have decided to do the same thing with our personal budget. We spend about $60,000.00 a year on household expenses, groceries, medicine, utilities, luxuries, eating out, kids and grandkids birthdays trips, golf, car and yard maintenance.

If this President can request cuts in the yearly federal budget than the American citizens should follow suit and make the same in kind sacrifices with their yearly budgets.

    Now, let’s do the math:

    US Budget for 2013:
$3,500,000,000,000.00 – $100,000000.00 = $3,499,900,000000.00 or a reduction in the yearly federal budget of 0.002857224%. Way to go Mr. President we are so proud of you!

Typical family budget for 2013: (Use your own yearly budget number the percentage reduction will be the same)
    $60,000.00 * 0.002857224% = $1.71

How these people stay in office is beyond me. What I really worry about are the people that voted for them.

Please have a discussion on why the Shumer background check will send all of us to prison. I’m a boy scoutleader and it appears that when we too the scouts to a ranch last year to learn gun safety, it will now be a federal crime and put us all in prison. Letting my daughter go shoot guns with her friend and dad, will put him in prison. Loaning a gun to my brother in law will put me in prison. We are not even talking about selling a gun to a neighbor. How is it the Federal government has any juristiction over thise private matters? Where will it end?

  91. Rolf Strauss says:

Great show this morning, Edd. I’ve been trying for years to get my reps and senators to stand up and fight and for them to get their agenda out on TV to all Americans. They come to our Tea Party meetings and make promises which they never keep. They toted the water for W. Bush and Boehner and McConnell.

  92. Alan Koelemay says:

Edd, enjoy your show and glad you’re back in the morning. Have you heard of the “Gang of 33″ in the Texax House? Please ask Sen. Patrick about it and it’s impact. Apparently 33 Republicans joined Democrats to damage transparency defeating HB 14 providing for posting information on various websites for the public to be able to view. It is sad that this is happening when the opposite should occur. My rep, House Rep John Davis, Dist 129 is a member of said Gang and has sponsored legislation (HB 1324 & 2987) under the “local bill” moniker that was not publicized per longstanding legislative practice and tradition and I’ve let him know about it. Please dig into this “Gang” and I hope to hear comments on your show in the coming days. Thank you.

It was good to hear Mr. Delay this morning. It would be good to have him on with a regular spot with you once a week to shed light on the stupidity of the Federal clowns. However, the “bumper” music that you open and close a segment with is distracting and competes with you on a decibel level.
The “twanging” guitars should be reconsidered for it detracts from the quality of your show. If,you believe the music is beneficial for some reason,I suggested some good country western “toe tappin” selections — at lower volume.

    Keep up the great work!

Edd,I can’t contact Mike McCaul since I am not in his district but since he is Chairman of the Committe on Homeland Security you definitley need to get him on and hold his feet to the fire about the DHS ammo purchase and about other no-bid contracts like the one for Sig Saur Arms for spare parts at $900,000 a year for 5 years. Maybe if DHS wasn’t buying 20 years worth of ammo the public could have access to some.

  96. John says:

I agree with you comments about Micke McCaul. I have complained to his office before about lack of communication. Also, have complainted about McCaul being an ineffictive representative in D.C. Edd, glad to have you back. Mack is in a good time slot and the other guy who was with Dan is in a good slot on KSEV.
I didn’t have my phone when you were talking about the members of Contgress we would like to hear from. We hear from my so called Rep (Kevin Brady) but I would like to see tough questions asked of him. He called in to Sam one morning after having once again voted against his voters wishes on the raising the debt limit. I called Russell and asked him to have Sam ask Kevin what the percentage of voters who called wanted him to not vote for the increase. His exact words were: ” Some were for and some against”. Did I miss the percentages of for and against in his answer: You know the answer and he did not want to admit it. So my question to Kevin would be this. “Does he represent the voters of his district who sent him to represent them or does he work for cry baby and I’ll cave in sooner if not later John Bohener? He will say that by going along the Speaker that he now has a chairmanship on an important committee or something stupid like that. What good does that do us out here in the real world? To coin a phrase from the old anti war song: “What is war for”-absolutely nothing,In short, Kevin is a Rhino and has to go next go around. God bless Dan Patrick and Ted Cruz-two elected officials we can be proud of.

  101. Mark says:

This morning your show aired a segment on which political representative your listeners would most like to hear interviewed on your station. At the time my son and I were listening (7:15 a.m. to 7:55 a.m.), the leader of the telephone poll was Mike McCaul, who is our representative. Mr. McCaul has participated in numerous telephone town hall calls in the past of which my wife was a listener/participant. My son and I receive regular email from Representative McCaul. The most recent was sent on 3/19; they are tagged with the subject line McCaul Minute. We were amused by a caller who said he never hears from McCaul. I suspect the reason my son and I receive “McCaul Minutes” is because we wrote Mr. McCaul and filled in the blank labeled, “Email address.”

The family isn’t poor but they probably will be if things don’t straighten out. Sounds like their leaders are about like our Washington crowd. One drawback is that it’s a “black plastic” watch that embarrasses my wife, so I have to wear my gold one when we go out together. Maybe your the king of your castle. Good luck.

Sadden to hear that John Abney Culberson is beginning to sound and vote like Shelley Sekula Gibbs.

He is beginning to loss his clout here in the last place of conservative strong hold in Texas. Must be the democrat blood in him from the former Texas Governor Charles Allen Culberson side of his family.

Need to fly Coulberson back home on the next Cessna 421 flight for his retirement so we dont have to keep one eye on Coulberson and the other eye on the border.

Culberson beginning to show his true color with his divided allegance between the party establishment and the voters that elected him. It’s like saying you support the Texans and Astros but still fly to Dallas County to watch the Cowboys and Rangers games.

Maybe it time to retire Culberson so he can spend the rest of his life teaching at SMU and crying a melody on a ham radio to Boehner. Or perhaps to start a career as a Fozzie Bear “celebrity look alike” since he already has the experience of someone else moving his hands and lips.

I just wanted to leave a message in regards to the federal employees situation. Lets talk about all of the paid holidays that they are compensated for. Most small companies only pay for 5 to 7 holidays but federal employees get every holiday out there. My suggestion is to let then have their holiday off, but lets not pay them for that one eight hour day. Now take each of those employees pay for that day and have it applied to the debt reduction. How much would that help? They can have that pay spread out over the entire year and never miss the money. What do you think?
    Something to talk about, huh?

  112. Carter says:

Morning Edd: Nice to have you back on in the morning. This morning I probably did not need the frustration of listening to Culberson evade your questions. I like John but he has been preaching to the choir on the westside of Houston. So far, winning has been easy for him. He has not learned to fight or to clearly enunciate a message. He was stumbling this morning and it makes me sad.

We are in the tub and I wish I had a magic answer. I am afraid the rest of Mr. Culberson’s friends in the House are also thinking this is easy. How are we as Republicans going to fight the new Obama initiative to take over Texas. They will succeed unless we get a brain. Regards, CDCr

The way to win the budget battle is to change the way inflation is counted to include everything American consumers purchase (which will never happen). If consumers knew the real inflation rate and had a short economic lesson they would realize that every time the gov’t approves the printing of more money, our taxes go up. How? If your dollar is now worth 90 cents, you just got an effective ‘tax’ of 10% on top of what you are already paying. That 10% shows up in newly printed money that the gov’t spends. If you don’t have it to spend and the gov’t does, that’s a tax. Stopping the increase in the debt ceiling will stop the hidden increase in taxes due to inflation.

    Mr. Hendee,

I am absolutely thrilled that you are back on the air!! When I first moved to Texas 6 years ago I was searching for a conservative radio station like I used to listen to in California. Thank goodness I found the Voice of Texas and especially your show. I have learned so much from you and I love to listen to the opinions and comments from other callers. But the reason I am writing today is that in all my years (I am ashamed to say) I have never actually read the text of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights and all of the amendments. Can you recommend a particular book. When I look on Amazon there are just so many. One of them looked pretty good until I read the reviews to find out the person that wrote the commentary along the way was a liberal. NO THANK YOU. We need more people like you to keep us informed. I especially like that you make all of the issues so easy to understand. I will await you reply. Thank you for your time

Can the mayor order the flag to be half-staffed?

    Category:

    Half-staff

    Question:

Can the mayor order the flag to be half-staffed?

    Answer:

    From the American Legion site.

Can the Mayor order the Half Staff of the US Flag?

No, only the President of the United States or the Governor of your State may order the flag to be half-staffed.

Those individuals and agencies that usurp authority and display the flag at half-staff on inappropriate occasions are quickly eroding the honor and reverence accorded this solemn act.

Welcome back Edd! You might want to tell John Culverson to quit comparing the Conservatives in the House of Representitives to the 300 Spartans at Thermopoli. The Spartans put up a damned good fight but Culverson seems to forget they were finally overwhelmed and DEFEATED! Your comparison to Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto is much more accurate, a small force against a larger trained army completely defeating the enemy in one decisive battle!

  122. Mike Main says:

Good show! John Culberson needs to stop talking about Sam Houston, the Sabine River, San Jacinto, and the Spartans at Thermopylae; and just answer your questions. His standard spiel is getting old.

The attornies on TV promising Social Security benefits give you some sense of why the program is going broke. There are more and more people receiving benefits other than retirement. When I applied for my benefits 5 years ago, I am 70 now, I was steered to the Conroe Office. I live in Spring. What I saw there was unbelievable. In the crowd, maybe 10% were seniors. About 50% were Spanish speakers. The majority were clearly not anywhere close to retirement. There were too many in their 30′s and 40′s and appeared to be abled bodied. Most of the whites were rednecks. The program needs to get back to retirement benefits.

  127. Larry Little says:

Ed, heard your show today (1-3) about the gov ammo purchases. I own a small business that sells equipment to military and law enforcement, we have been around for over 28 years. Last summer I started noticing gigant RFQ’s for ammo, mainly .40 cal HP mainly to CBP & HSC, they were very adnormal is quanity, like 10- 100MM rds, so I started keeping tract of the total & stoped at around 1.7 B rounds and saw several more RFQ that would have got the total over 2B rds. I’d guess 90% was .40 hp, rest .223/5.56, .308, 9m & 12 gage. These were all in CBD, so can be checked, I did see a few awards, but did not tract all so I can tell you our gov sure did buy 2 B rds last year. Your source is either confused, not familar with gov procurment, or intentionaly attempting to mislead.
I am a retired US Army officer pilot, with 28 total years service both active & reserve. We have been in business for 28 years here and I worked for another company for eight years in houston learning the rep business and we did some goverment sales then, so I am very familar with Federal, State and local procurment. I was emailed this and thought you would like to look at it. I personally am having to reload my ammo due to shortages and I stocked up as soon as the current idiot took office. I went the easy math for the amount of ammo to have 1,000 rounds for every gun or as close a possible.

Does this tell you anything about the American people handing over their guns?

    REPORT FROM

    “GUNS & AMMO” magazine:

S&W: Running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day – mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

    Remington: Maxed out!

    Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly… bottle necked by lack of bolt carriers.

LWRC: Making only black guns, running at full capacity… can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now allocated! We are looking at a nationwide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/over 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL: Behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS: ALL Remington, Winchester , CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes… it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.

    Related commentary from Bob Owens:

They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers are running full-bore, but can’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It isn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that are sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, and Enfield .303s are gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants of which every gun store always seemed to have 10-20 are gone. So is their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years is gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein and the rest of the Statists have done more to promote gun ownership than the NRA ever did. Well done, Democrats!

  129. David says:

I heard your comment this morning concerning the purchase of ammo by DHS and that only entails one of the many orders they have put in over the past year or so.
In December, under solicitation #HSBP1013R0023: 250,000,000 ‘training rounds’ @ 50 million rounds per year over five years.

In September, the contract was awarded for 4.87 million dollars (no quantities given) of 9mm Luger +P Caliber (124 grain) JHP Duty ammuntion. However, if numbers are consistent with the other awards where quantites are given, it works out to about 26 million rounds of duty ammo at about 45K per 100-200 thousand rounds.)

In August, another 4.6 million dollars of “223 duty ammunition” (again, no quantities given) awarded (not the same contract as Luger ammo above)

There are a number of other solicitations outstanding for ammo by DHS, and I have to say, that is an awful lot of “duty ammunition.”

If you can disprove the numbers above and other additional purchases, great. I will sleep better at night, but I do believe our governement is arming up for some sort of anticipated event/struggle here on the mainland. Thus one of the reasons for an ammo shortage.

I enjoy the show and I am glad to have you back in the morning.

The company my fiance works for has done this sereral times over the years for months at a time. The employees would rather work 4 days than get laid off. Many business have cut back benefits or whatever they can to stay in business.

What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor. Real wrath of God type stuff! Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness, earthquakes, and volcanos! The dead rising from the grave!
Human sacrifices, dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

    Hello Edd – Reference I Samuel 8:14-17.

It comes up regarding Dr.Ben Carson’s statement at the recent White House Prayer Breakfast that tied the 10% tithe to a tax.

    * The governing system established in Israel was initially a theocracy, with God himself in charge. The amount of giving was mandated by God only to those who adhered to His tenets.

Another excellent reference is the above, in which God warns that the government of a king, which the people wanted so they could be like other nations, will demand of them “He will take the best of your fields and vinyards and olive groves and give them to his attendents … and you yourselves will become his slaves”.

Samuel warned that the government would consider itself equal to God in what it demanded. (sound familiar?)

    * Taken from a letter to the Wall Street Journal editor, David Vargha, 20Feb2013.

I hope you have read the contents of Dr.Carson’s talk.

  140. Doug Branham says:

You and the Car Doc misunderstand what Octane Number is. It is not related to horsepower released but it is a measure of the performance of a motor fuel. The higher the octane number, the higher the compression the fuel can withstand without detonating, i.e. pinging. Cars used to have a 10:1 compression ratio but was lowered when the government determined that they produced higher nitrogen oxides. That is why they mandated a lower compression ratios in motor vehicle engines. Using a higher octane number than is necessary is a waste of money. It does nothing for your car’s engine performance. (I am a Texaco retiree where I worked in a refinery most of my career. I was a manager and and a 44 year mechanical engineer from the University of Maryland.)

  141. Nick says:

They (govm’t) do not need more gun laws but they do need to revise the HIPPA Regulations to report Mental illness contrary to the objection of the NAACP and the other Liberal Alphabet soup agencies in this administration.

Otherwise, their intent is just the first steps in gun confiscation.

Hi Edd, good to see ya back!!! I caught only a part of your show a couple of days ago…you were talking about personal defense and training…sim training in particular when I had to actually get outta the car and get to work! I didn’t hear the rest of the show BUT…I took a personal defense class with sim training. It was International Defense in Houston. They are great! We actually had a little training in what I call hand-to-hand combat of sorts…keeping your gun when someone is attacking you, etc. The sim was wonderful (compressed air gun). I would do it again and perhaps even go to the next level. There are trainings also at Hot Well on 290 in Cypress. Great guys out there.

    Senator Ted Cruz,

Thank you Senator Cruz. For standing up for us fighting Obama and the Democrats who are trying to destroy our country and our freedoms – take away our guns – do away with our Second Amendment – a right to keep and bear arms – completely bankrupting our country and each of us – weaken our National Defense so much that we will not be able to defend ourselves and invite our enemies to attack us. Let the sequester happen, Prioritize spending – NO NEW TAXES. Since our leadership Boehner & McConnell will not speak out will you gather the Conservative Republicans in the Senate and the House – call National Press Conferences and expose Obama’s and the Democrat’s Lies. Let the American people hear & see you CONSTANTLY! FIGHT FOR US! Do not give in as the Republicans have been doing! THANKS AGAIN! I WILL BE WATCHING.

It is absolutely insane to be buying oil from our enemies especially since we have more oil & gas in this country then the rest of the world combined. Drilling & using our own – we will never run out.

The royalties & payouts to others would pay off the National Debt in eight years. Our growth could easily be at 7% with full employment.

The benefits would be to all states – manufacturing – housing – sales – steel production – coal industries – you name it. It would happen. It is criminal to hurt our economy & the American People this way!

    Sincerely,

  147. Casimer Stawicki says:

    Edd,

Scarry to hear about the break in.
    What does Mack advise?
Another listener suggested Jeff Coopers “Principals of Personal Defense”. I would also suggest “On Killing” by David Grossman. Retires Lt COL Grossman is currently at University of Florida. A look into the necessary warrior mind set.

  148. Chris says:

    Edd,

I don’t know of any good defensive firearms trainers in the area. Not that there aren’t any – I simply don’t know them. Ask the police, the NRA, or at your local gun store for recommendations (or just ask Mack who he recommends). However, as a way to practice and keep from getting rusty, I heartily recommend that you ask around, find the nearest IDPA or Practical Shooting league, and go shoot with them on a regular basis.

In IDPA, you are practicing scenarios in which you are shooting for best time while still maintaining acceptable self-defense accuracy. You will draw from a holster, fire while moving and from cover, fire against multiple attackers (with and without innocents present), clear weapon malfunctions, rapid-fire, and change magazines.

Shooting IDPA won’t put you on par with a SWAT team or special forces, but you will be amazed in the improvement it brings about in your self-defense shooting abilities.

  149. David Bottrell says:

    Edd,
Regarding firearm training, look into Gunsite Academy in Prescott, AZ. I’ve a couple of old friends that have gone through several of the courses. If I can pull off retiring shortly, I’m hopeing to go there either Sept. or Oct. The course is usually for 5 days. Anyway, check them out.

  150. Michael Parks says:

Please ask Cornyn why he supported the tax cheat little Timmy Geitner in confirming him. Also how in the heck is he listed as the no. 2 most conservative Senator. The National Journal took only his votes in the last two years. Guess what, he’s up for re-election! Voted against the balance budget amendment to the constitution. I think he leans conservative but I think when we need a strong stand on something he folds. He needs to go but I’m not sure there is another Ted Cruz out there. Love ya Edd, keep it up!
    Thanks, Michael

  151. Tony Gant says:

Listening to the two Obama clips on ‘Sequestration’ this morning reminds me of a squealing pig caught under the gate…the volume of the squeal never matches the actual distress. Glad you are back in the car pool. I listen between 6:00 and 6:30 am.

  152. Ashton says:

  153. John Hesse says:

    Edd,

We are moving in to a time that is important in Texas History. Washington on the Brazos rememberence will be the first weekend in March. One of the best to teach us about Texas History is your wife. I would like to recommend that as we get closer to the key event in Texas History that Nina Hendee come on the air with you and do some Texas History spots and how important it was to the world. For example, the battle of San Jancinto was history making with such a small force beating the best army in the Western Hemisphere at the tme. It is important to educate people at how amazing Texas is and what freedom really costs.

    Respectfully submitted,

    John A. Hesse

  154. Mike V. Casey says:

I’m glad you’re back. You are my favorite morning talk show host and an inspiration as well. How do I get one of the “Come and Take It” bumper stickers? I’ll put it on my banjo case. You know many people associate the “5 String” with the term, “assault weapon” and are more afraid of one than an AR-15 with a 120 round clip. Best Regards, Mike V. Casey

  155. AlChampagne says:

    Edd,

I decided to wait a while before welcoming you back to your morning radio show. This is not meant as any kind of disparaging comment towards the gentlemen that took your place over the last couple of years; but it is great to have you back. You do have a way of delivering commentary on the days’ events that keep it simple and to the point. I think that you and Pat Gray were one of the all time great duos in the talk radio field. Unfortunately, I don’t think that Pat will leave the national spotlight for the regional Houston market.

I hope that you will have a long run and wish you and your family the best.

  156. Margaret Bowman says:

Thank you Edd for your broadcast and all that it means to us. This morning a woman called in to your show the story of a Hispanic illegal getting $1100.00 a month on her Lone Star card (food stamps). She claims 5 children of her own and 3 of her sister’s who is not eligible for food stamps and said she couldn’t spend it all so she purchased $300.00+ of goodies for a classroom function. “All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing”. I’m tired of hearing “What can I do?” This lady, having the perpetrator’s name and at least the area she lives in, should report this illegal person, her illegal action and the lack of proper verification of the illegal’s claim to the authorities. This very non-action is why they get away with it and does nothing to hold the government agencies accountable as well. The government today and the thriving abuses of spending OUR (we, the people) money and freedoms being lost from the Federal down to the City govt. levels are totally out of control and we all should be extremely upset. But most of us have not had the specifics to report or I, personally, would be down there every day until something was done about it reporting every name I knew of, both the perpetrator and the city employee who allowed it to happen . I am incensed that there are people who have information and do NOTHING ……. Nothing will ever change with such INACTION. A lot of us are feeling so helpless since it seems that those of us who do work and know that someday the piper must be paid are outnumbered at the polls by those who are living the “instant gratification” lives of what can the government give them now. Those of us who care must be ready to do whatever we can whenever we can no matter how small it may seem at the moment. And I DO write my congressman.

  157. Stacey says:

    Edd,

I just want to clarify something for everyone. The Lone Star Card has two options. One is food only and one includes cash back availability. They have different qualifications for the cash back option.
I, unfortunately, had to be on the card for 2 months last year. However, I was not approved for cash back. Therefor, my card was only good for the purchase of food items. The assumption that ANYONE can get cash back is a bad assumption.
The administration of this program is highly flawed, though.
I was on it for two months, but pre-approved for a block of 6 months. They were absolutely appalled when I called to voluntarily withdraw after the first month. Because it takes them more than 30 days to process that, I got the second month and there is no mechanism to return it. I would have gotten all 6 months had I not said anything. Waste of money!!

The caller talking about the woman with 8 “dependents” would get $1352/mo assuming no spouse.

  159. Marri Velasquez says:

Obama is now campaigning on pre-k education. This plan will cost about 9K per child per year. About 2 years “before” BHO won his first election, I thought of a pre-K plan for 0-4 years and back then tried to get the plan into the hands of Palin, McCain, Karl Rove, etc with no success. I kept trying to push the plan throughout Obama’s first term, even up to the re-election. The other day I heard Reince Priebus say Republicans want to be a party for every American in every neighborhood in every state. How are they going to do that? What are they going to run on? This pre-K plan costs much less then BHO’s plan and would be parent driven. I believe this pre-K plan can touch the hearts of all American families.

  161. Chris says:

    Edd,

You have my sympathies for your recent experience with an armed home burglar – we got burgled once before (no idea if he was armed), and it was anything but fun.

As you’ve learned, all the locks and alarms in the world don’t do any good if you don’t engage them. Security experts recommend keeping doors locked and alarms set even when people are at home. You can usually set a special code that only works during certain hours for trusted workmen or housekeepers.

Steps we have taken in my household are:

    1. We got a big, noisy dog who barks at anyone who comes near “his” property.

    2. We put up big “Beware of dog” signs any place someone could enter our home.

    3. We don’t have an alarm system (when I did an HPD ride-along, the officers said they hate the dang things, and give them the lowest priority since they’re usually false alarms), but we did get some fake alarm company stickers and yard signs to fool criminals.

    4. Since I have a have a CHL anyway, I am already used to carrying a gun. I make a habit of wearing it at home too. It doesn’t do me much good if it’s locked up in the safe at the other end of the house when someone kicks in the front door.

    5. My main safe is too heavy (500 lbs) to remove from the house, and is bolted (accessed through a lift-up floor panel inside the safe) to the floor anyway.

    6. I have a Mini-Vault for keeping a loaded handgun at my bedside, but mine is bolted to the steel bed frame. You can also use a bicycle cable and lock to secure your Mini-Vault.

    7. I am meticulous about locking the doors even when we are home, and locking our cars in the driveway. It drives me nuts that my wife and kids are NOT so meticulous, and are always leaving things unlocked – it is one of our biggest bones of contention.

    8. There are many other things I can/should do – they’re on my “to do” list, but simply haven’t been done.

Remember – you can’t make your home impenetrable, but you can make it uninviting enough that a criminal chooses to break into your neighbor’s house instead.

  162. Lisa says:

Edd is the most articulate, intelligent talk show host on the radio. Thanks for putting him in the morning slot.

  163. BILL says:

Edd… first, welcome back. My condolences regarding your son, but praise God he had such a great dad and grandfather for his kids and daughter-in-law (oh… and great mom and grandmother, too). I go to West campus and know some folks that have been in your classes at Woodway… but that’s not why I am writing.

Regarding your security. You are obviously faced with the prospect of having to step up your diligence. “If you know the “strong man” is coming…” I too had my safe un-mounted, but my guns were secure somewhere else. I bought it because of my mom-in-law with Alzheimer’s will be with us off and on. Ironically, I mounted it this weekend where it is accessible next to my bed. It’s not biometric, but has the finger-tip code buttons to open in the dark without a key.
Regarding your alarm… When I was burglarized previously in a house by my ex-step son, I had an alarm system installed by a local firm that customized my system and did not charge me an arm and a leg for monitoring (fort Bend County service). I had it set up with zones that allowed establishing a perimeter alarm without motion sensors activated. If anyone broke the perimeter, the alarm would go off. This was done by a combination of glass break sensors, contact sensors, and security (and solar) screens. I also had my doors set to “sound” every time they were opened. Admittedly, this is a pain in the rear to listen to if you have small children going in and out often, but without motion sensors you can even have a dog entry without setting it off. Also, a dog door presents its own access problems, if the dog isn’t preventing someone from using it for personal access. The perimeter alarm allows you to set the alarm when you go to bed too… and works independently of any motion sensors. Of course, motion sensors would be applicable if someone gains entry by some other means when nobody is home, such as an upstairs window, or busts a hole in your wall. I also had a strobe light installed where I would see it as I drove up to the house in the event I hadn’t received a notification yet and was coming home after the siren quit sounding, possibly to an armed intruder inside my house. Rounding out my system, I armored the telephone line so the monitoring system could not be easily defeated.

God be with you all, my friend. I look forward to one day hopefully getting to talk with you. I am so grateful for the Veterans’ reception you provided at Woodway… my dad was blessed as was I. He passed 2010, but remembered that reception when many recent things would not stay in his memory. Served WWII, 54months… and I believe 17 days. He was proud of that!

And…. Thanks for all you do. List too long for me to mention… but Thanks! I am “proud” to listen to you.

    In Christ… Bill Graham

  164. Gloria Valigura says:

    Edd, security recommendation:
Install security doors at each entrance to your home. Go to Lowe’s or HD and get a Larson security door. When the locking handle is engaged (to close the door), three locks engage (a dead bolt at mid-height; one hook-type lock at top of the door and one hook-type lock at bottom of door. Further there is an invisible rubber shield between the two layers of glass that prevents a neer-do-well from breaking the glass. They also have them in french doors.

My granddaughter almost had somebody break into her apt, the other night. The intruder heard her husband cock the pistol and left…luckily. But, I know firsthand about people stealing. I worked as a doorgreeter at WalMart and it has steadily gotten worse. People just walk outevery day with big t.v.’s and don’t care. They steal everything.

Today, you were discussing The nomination of Chuck Hagel and referred to a speech he gave several years ago at Rutgers University “in New York.” Rutgers, founded in 1766, is in New Jersey, not New York. That is akin to saying that Auburn University is in Georgia and would result in a similar reaction.

Howdy Edd – a note from an Aggie “Corps” Dad.
My son is an ’06 Aggie grad, and was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. He is now an Air Force C-17 pilot and T-6 Texan II instructor pilot. Since his time at A&M, I have been collecting videos about Aggieland, their traditions and history including the Aggie Band marching & music, the Corps, Sports, Yell Leaders, Reveille, the Aggie Ring, MSC-Memorial Student Center, interviews with students, faculty and much more. I have collected about 250 short videos (most 2 to 10 minutes) and they fill an 8GB thumb drive. The videos bring back the memories, sights and sounds of Aggieland for former students and an insight into A&M for future studets. I duplicate the thumb drive and give them away to Aggie Families who have former, present, or future Aggies to enjoy. From listening to your show, I understand you are an Aggie Family with a daughter who is a grad. I would like to send a copy of the thumb drive to you for you all to enjoy. Please contact me by email to find the best way to get a copy to you.

  175. Robbie Fedrick says:

    Mr Hendee,
You and your wonderful family are amazing! Once again you stepped up to help someone in need! What you did for Mr. Stout, and his family is a blessing. I prayed for you and Mr.Stout to have a safe trip, and when I saw him being interviewed on the ten o’clock news, I said,”Thanks Be To God”.

Several years ago I was having lunch with a friend at The Taste Of Texas, and I had the pleasure of meeting you. I had been listening to you each morning on the radio and then to actually meet you was wonderful. It is so good to listen to you once again. Thank you for everything you do, and for being a role model. God Bless you, and your family.

  176. Blake Volmer says:

  178. Pat Stout says:

Mr. Hendee, my name is Pat Stout- I just wanted to tell you thank you sooooo much- you have made my dad’s dreams come true.

By taking him to Mobile in your plane to pick up my mom, Linda, from the cruise ship, you have both rescued her and tickled him. He has been talking to me for years about your radio show and Taste of Texas (awesome). Dad and I are staunch conservatives. And you are his talk show hero. Thanks so much- I hope you enjoy your time with him as much as I know he will enjoy his time with you!

  182. Jimmie Riley says:

Edd: I can’t tell you how happy I am that you are returning to the morning show at KSEV!!!! It has been a very long dry spell since you’ve been gone. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no one better in the morning to start the day with on the way to work. Glad you’re back and the best of luck! I really appreciate your insight and wisdom into local and current events, as well as your analysis of what is happening in the news. To me, it is extremely valuable insight into current events. Hope you are able to include local issues as well as national topics.

Thanks for your commitment to the truth and justice. Keep up the good work, fight the good fight!

  183. Christopher says:

You mentioned a book this morning which told of a story of a child’s journey to Heaven, and the impact it had on the child’s father…what was the name of the book? Thanks in advance.

    CT.

    • Cecily Bittinger says:

      Hi Christopher,

You are probably referring to “Heaven is for Real” by Todd Burpo. Great book! I read an interview about it in Katy Christian Magazine.

  184. Toni Lawrence says:

Culberson was wrong about Gun Shows because many of the booths at a show writes on an invoice “parts” when you buy a gun/rifle/etc and don’t ask for ID or record anything on the sold gun. FBI and a very close friend confirmed this story.

  185. Susan Browning says:

Your interview with Robbie Parker blessed me! It was 30 minutes well spent. Thanks!!

Edd, I didn’t realize I missed ’til I heard you again. Welcome back!!

  186. Michelle Taylo says:

Edd – Thank you for having Robby on this morning. What a blessing it was to hear his words when so much is ugly in this discussion! Hopefully many will be better because of his words.

  190. Roy L. says:

    Good Morning Edd,
Have you had a chance to see the youtube video “Flipping the bird to the Judge”? Unfortunately I see this young lady every week in my classroom in too many of the students in my school and classroom.I have been “flipped off” visually and verbally more times than I can count, and 90% of the time the students are encouraged to continue the disrespect and flippant behavior by the lack on disciplinay action enforced by the school system. I have had administrators bring the students to me and give me a half-hearted apology for the action and dismiss the offense only to have it happen again and again, each time more vocal and vibrant than the time before. The young lady mirrors the exact behavior that I witness all too often in my school. The exception, this young lady was held accountable for her actions. I have personally witnessed time and again where the students are not held accountable for their actions. I once saw a young lady run from the boys bathroom after she dragged in there by a male student against her will. The incident left bruises on her arms. The administrator put the boy in In School Suspension for 2 days and told me , when I complained that she did not do more discipline, that “the girl was asking for it because she acts like a whore and gets in trouble all the time”.
    Thank You-Roy L.

  191. Chris Alexander says:

Back in 2004, you were in favor of renewal of Sen. Feinstein’s 1994 “assault weapon” ban. Now you seem to be against passage of her new and expanded ban. While I am pleased by this turn, I am also intensely curious as to what thing(s) caused you to change your mind? Whatever changed your mind may well also be useful to change the mind of other supporters of a ban on modern semi-auto firearms.

Please forgive me if you have gone over this recently on air – I only get to catch about 15 minutes of you in the mornings, and may have missed it.

I look forward to your reply.

    • Edd Hendee says:

      Chris,

I still don’t have an AR15 and probably will not in the forseeable future. What I have acquired is a DEEP DISTRUST of the Federal Gov’t and their overreach into our lives on many issues. Years ago I gave them the benefit of the doubt – my trust was misplaced. Thanks for trying to reason with me back then – I am an NRA Member and want to see you and others have the rights that were assured under the Constitution.
      Take care my friend.
      Edd

  192. Ward Keller says:

Happy to have you back on the air!!

  193. Randy says:

    Edd,

Let me start out by saying that for many years I have been a fan of yours and listen to KSEV daily. In fairness, on Monday,I do have to take exception to you calling the fox reporter (Ainsley Earhart) “the twit of the day”. This comment is not only demeaning to her but to any female reporter fox puts on. I felt this was unwarranted and below your and KSEV’s usually high standards. Thanks for your time.

    Randy

  195. JJ says:

Welcome back!! I have missed you and have been hoping you would one day return permanently to KSEV.

  196. Lenora Renteria says:

Missed you! Always wanted you back, I told myself someday. We need you, because you are not blinded by what is actually happening to our country by Obama’s radical agenda. You care and God is putting his people in place where their God given talent can best be of good influence.

  197. Rod Townsnd says:

    Mr. Hendee,

It was great talking with you this morning. Again, it’s good to have you back on the air as you were sorely missed. How would I go about getting an audio copy of your firearm / CHL segment from this morning?

When everyone bebates bringing spending under control, why is it that domestic spending is the only target? WHY do we accept the premise of hurting our own citizens at the cost of all the money we send to foreign governments. What would really happen if we stopped sending money to Egypt or China (just examples) and used that money to balance the budget instead? It is our money, from our citizens, to be used on and by our citizens.

  200. Chris Courtney says:

Good to hear you back on radio Edd. I go way back with talk radio(Alvin Van Black as an example). I like the local mix on KSEV 700, as well as the national talkers on the Salem Network up the A.M. dial. Lots of gun control talk(unfortunately, the POTUS will continue to pound on this issue). Nothing like “banning so-called assault rifles” is going to pass as you have stated. Maybe some improvements to the NICS background system will come out of this.

Very much enjoy the Taste! Attended Nina’s Texas History Tour luncheon Sat. and enjoyed it immensely. I have already noted next years event on my iCal! Looking forward to a possible San Jacinto Texas History tour trip. An interesting idea on the stickers Edd. I like the “Come and Take It” sticker with the cannon on the bottom! I bought this small sticker at Kronberg’s earlier this week, before Nina’s Texas History presentation, and have it on the back window of my Tacoma. Not sure if I would put a anything with a Glock or AR-15 thought due the possibility of vandalism.

I too am a gun owner, as well as a NRA member. Just recently bought a 9mm that I am learning to shoot.

Thanks for sharing your life Edd! Keep it up. One last thing, don’t let Nina sell her car!!!

    Regards,

    Chris C. Courtney

    Edd,
Welcome back! I can hardly begin to tell you how happy I am to have you back on the radio.
Thanks for all that you do.

  202. Perky Savage says:

Edd, as you know I along with Nina have campaigned for you to be back on the air to Dan. he said the “ball” was in your hands. Great to hear your voice again. I am on hold trying to talk with you as I write this. Again, WELCOME HOME.!!

  203. Janet Martin says:

    Welcome back!

I live in the DFW area and currently I am listening to you on the internet. I listen to talk radio daily, but I have only called a talk radio show once. I talked to you on your show in 2009. I think it was on November 25th. We discussed how the arrogant, elitist politicans in Washington were cramming the “so called” health care bill down our throats. I was so excited for the opportunity to discuss a couple of issues with you!

Anyway, I hope you and your family are doing well. We understand the loss in your life and keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

We look forward to hearing your conservative voice on the radio again. Welcome back!
