Israel Eliminates Hamas Commander Who Oversaw Kidnapping of at Least 15 Hostages

By The Media Line Staff

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that Izz al-Din Bik, commander of Hamas’ Northern Gaza Brigade who was eliminated earlier in the week, oversaw the kidnapping of at least 15 hostages and participated in the October 7 massacre.

Israeli intelligence found that Bik was involved in the captivity of Mia Schem, Hisham al-Sayed, Amit Buskila, Uriel Baruch, Corporal Nik Beizer, Sergeant Ron Sherman, Elia Toledano, Shani Louk, Michel Nisenbaum, Staff Sergeant Tamir Nimrodi, Itzik Gelerenter,
Eitan Levy, Hanan Yablonka, Ron Benjamin, and Orion Hernandez, according to the IDF.

Before becoming commander of Hamas’ Northern Gaza Brigade, Bik served as commander of the terrorist organization’s Western Jabalia Battalion and headed the brigade’s military intelligence headquarters.

During his tenure in those positions, Bik advanced and financed numerous attacks targeting Israeli civilians. He was also among the founders of Hamas’ Nukhba forces in northern Gaza.

Bik’s elimination was described by the IDF as significant for their efforts against Hamas members involved in the October 7 massacre.

“The elimination of the terrorist Izz al-Din Bik marks an important moment of closure for the IDF and ISA, which will continue to act decisively against the terrorists who took part in the October 7th Massacre,” the statement emphasized.

“The IDF will continue to act to protect Israeli civilians and remove threats posed by the Hamas terrorist organization,” it concluded.
