Iran Weighs Qatari 7-Day Proposal to End Conflict With US, Israel
By The Media Line Staff
Iran is reviewing a new Qatari-mediated proposal aimed at ending its conflict with the US and Israel and is expected to deliver its response by the end of the week, an official briefed on the negotiations said Wednesday.
Qatari mediators presented the draft to Tehran on Sunday, according to the official, amid concerns that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could resume attacks on Iran this week.
The proposal sets out a seven-day framework intended to address the principal security and strategic concerns of Tehran and Washington. Under the draft, both sides would be required to take specified steps each day as confidence-building measures.
Several countries would serve as formal guarantors responsible for ensuring compliance if the proposal is accepted. The seven-day timeline could begin as early as next week.
The negotiations come as US President Donald Trump continues to threaten further military action against Iran. On Friday, President Trump repeated threats to strike the country again.
Iranian security officials, meanwhile, told Reuters that Tehran had prepared detailed plans to attack Gulf undersea cables if the US and Israel resumed attacks.
