KSEV Mornings · October 14, 2026 · Hour 2
Bank fines, super PAC money and real IDs, plus a Notre Dame ticket caper, a police training tackle and a funeral plan involving a rowboat and a flaming arrow.
Wayne Dolcefino was still out on special assignment for Hour 2, so Craig Coglianese kept the solo act going, with a lot of audio and one very good phone call.
Bank of America’s $1.2 billion penalty
Craig opened with the Treasury Department’s announcement of more than $1.2 billion in penalties against Bank of America, the country’s second-largest bank, for alleged anti-money-laundering and sanctions violations. Fox News noted it’s the third-largest penalty in the department’s history. Craig was clear he wasn’t saying it’s connected to the Ilhan Omar search. He just hopes it all turns out to be connected, because what most people want is the receipts.
Receipts, and the myth of the independent voter
That led to one of Craig’s pet peeves about his own side of the aisle: saying you know something without proof. His example was Talarico’s flu. Craig thinks it wasn’t the flu, but he said you can’t say it with 100% certainty until the receipts show up. That caveat drives a good buddy of his crazy, a guy who once said he’d have taken a bullet for Trump.
Craig said he sees Charlie Kirk, looking back, as a tamer, middle-of-the-road Republican in many ways, and the left heard even him as extreme. So you won’t win over the left by talking like them, he argued. The only people left to persuade are in the middle, and he’s not sure there are many of them. Plenty of people no longer claim a party, Craig said, but most of them vote Republican because they don’t trust the government. Neither does he, with a handful of exceptions like Senator Paul Bettencourt.
Who’s bankrolling the progressive left
Craig played Will Cain at the Fox News video wall breaking down who funds progressive super PACs: Saikat Chakrabarti, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s former chief of staff, rolling money into a super PAC spreading it among progressive candidates, plus George and Alex Soros and other big donors. Craig praised Cain for bringing the receipts. He pointed out that five of the twelve biggest donors to those super PACs also backed Zohran Mamdani, who says he doesn’t like millionaire and billionaire money. When candidates say they hate billionaire money, Craig said, they mean until it’s in their pockets.
Scott Jennings, Abby Phillip and the real ID
Craig noted that Wayne is the one who watches Abby Phillip’s CNN show every night, mostly for Scott Jennings. In the clip, Phillip and Jennings argued over a man in New Jersey whose car window was smashed by immigration officers even though he was showing a real ID. Jennings’ point: if police give you instructions and you don’t follow them, they break your window. Craig wondered aloud how much CNN pays Jennings for that job, looked it up on air, and found reports of $500,000 to a million dollars. “All right, maybe I would take it.”
The ID debate set up a story Craig couldn’t resist. As a student at Holy Cross, next door to Notre Dame, he and his friends passed student IDs back through the line to get into Notre Dame football games, including one pass that should never have worked and somehow did. His point: an ID doesn’t always prove what people think it proves.
A caller on what ICE can and can’t ask
A caller from Tomball made a constitutional case: no federal law requires a U.S. citizen to carry proof of citizenship, and ICE has no authority to detain citizens for immigration purposes. Craig agreed, with one caveat: if you’re behind the wheel, you have to show a license. He expects ICE to argue it detained the New Jersey man for other reasons, something like mistaking him for someone on a warrant. That would be a weak argument, the caller said. Craig agreed it was weak, “but it’s not wrong.” The two agreed on the Constitution, and the caller signed off a happy listener.
Craig, who calls himself very much pro cop, then told the story of playing an active shooter in a police training drill in Illinois. A young officer blew through the school in about 15 seconds, may have dodged a paintball, and flipped Craig over “like I was at the rodeo and he was tying down a calf.” The trainers yelled at the officer. Craig told them that’s exactly the guy he’d want in that moment.
The lighter side
Then came the rapid-fire stories. Pringles is offering a can a day for 200 years, which sent the internet into a debate over whether you’d be buried in a Pringles can. Craig said no. He wants a Viking funeral: a cheap rowboat, someone with good aim and a flaming arrow, and preferably not Galveston. A woman was jailed for breaking into a Dollar General, which Craig called the wrong target if you’re going to jail anyway. A Delta passenger stole an airport tug and joyrode around the tarmac. And a woman in New Hampshire got locked inside an urgent care after closing and had to call 911.

- Claude’s viral answer to the meaning of life, which Craig didn’t hate but found eerily close to something Vision said in a Marvel show. “I’m confused now and also scared.”
- A Daft Punk and Michael McDonald mashup that, by Craig’s ruling, shouldn’t work but absolutely does.
