Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent is at it again, tracking down Iranian regime’s cash and grabbing or freezing it with Operation Economic Fury, the financial side of the actions against the regime.
Bessent explained how they’ve been tracking accounts all over the world, and now they’ve frozen a crypto wallet containing about $130 million linked to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Bessent also explained that they managed to do something else that isn’t going to make the cardboard Ayatollah very happy (assuming he’s even alive).
“We found the money man for the Ayatollah! We are tracking the Ayatollah’s properties around the world. We hope to soon be able to print his $100 million-plus properties and show the addresses. And we’re preserving this money for the American people, but most of all, we’re constricting the regime.”
“Their currency has collapsed; it’s at an all-time low versus the dollar. It’s in free fall, and we think the inflation rate is upwards of 180 percent.”
That’s also likely to make the Iranian people more angry at the regime. That isn’t all. The military action has impacted China’s purchases of Iranian oil, reducing them by about 40 percent, and cutting off another source of income for the Iranian regime.
“That’s directly pressuring the Iranian regime,” Bessent declared. He also said putting the naval blockade back on Iran has not only been powerful financially, but psychologically as well, isolating Iran from the world. Bessent explained how they can even interdict the Iranian “dark fleet” as well.
So none of that looks good for Iran. Can I say again how much I enjoy Bessent in the role of the “economic assassin” and grabbing the Ayatollah’s money?
As we reported, Bessent has also been doing things like directing his team to assess whether Iranian assets could be used to help Gulf allies rebuild and repair damage caused by Iran during the ongoing conflict. So the regime is finding out all their assets, even those overseas, are exposed and could be grabbed. That’s a pretty powerful “found out” for their bad actions. Add to that the resumed military strikes on the regime, and that doesn’t look good for them. They can keep playing games, but the U.S. can keep doing things like this what will cut their legs out from under them.
