The Trump administration will publish a list of crimes committed by illegal aliens in sanctuary cities weekly, according to an executive order released Wednesday.
“To better inform the public regarding the public safety threats associated with sanctuary jurisdictions, the Secretary shall utilize the Declined Detainer Outcome Report or its equivalent and, on a weekly basis, make public a comprehensive list of criminal actions committed by aliens and any jurisdiction that ignored or otherwise failed to honor any detainers with respect to such aliens,” the order reads. The move will apply pressure to sanctuary cities: Local residents may be outraged when they learn that the gang member, drug trafficker, or the drunk driver that ruined lives is an illegal alien. It lets resistance movements to entrenched political establishments bloom across the country and will force politicians to be responsive.
Trump re-framed the issue from a partisan battle to a duty owed to the American people: “When it comes to public safety, there is no place for politics; no Republicans, no Democrats, just citizens, and good citizens,” he said. “We want safe communities. We demand safe communities for everyone.” Voters will want to know why their mayor sides with the illegal alien killer over a victimized American family. About 300 sanctuary city jurisdictions operate in the U.S. where state or local officials refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement officers and make it difficult for them to apprehend illegal aliens caught committing a crime. Besides the enormous costs illegal immigration imposes on taxpayers, Americans pay the price when an illegal alien allegedly shoots their daughters in broad daylight or fatally hits them in a car accident, as happened to the families of Kate Steinle and Sarah Root, both of whose killers were protected by sanctuary policies.
During a Wednesday speech, Trump named the deceased children of the Angel Moms, who lost children to illegal alien crime, assuring them that they will be prioritized, not the open borders lobby. “To all of those hurting out there, I repeat to you these words. We hear you, we see you and you will never, ever be ignored again,” he said. The order is also an outmaneuvering of the press, which hushes up illegal alien crime. Journalists and prominent liberals reacted angrily Twitter, comparing it to Nazism in one instance.
