During the third and final presidential debate, Hillary Clinton was asked by Fox News moderator Chris Wallace about her plan and agenda to lower our national debt.
As she typically does, she praised Obama for his actions and claimed that his economic agenda has cut our deficit “by two thirds.”
Fact-Check: FALSE
Hillary’s claim that Obama has cut our deficit by two thirds is a flat out lie. Democrats, especially Hillary Clinton, often praise Obama for his agenda and policies, but they are only doing so to abide by party lines, not because it has been successful.
When Hillary uttered that Obama’s agenda has cut the deficit by two thirds, she forgot to mention that midway through Obama’s first year in office his fraudulent accounting policies cost taxpayers $862,000,000,000.
This massive spending bill (“porkulus”), coupled with the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) severely added, not subtracted, to our deficit. In January, Obama claimed that he cut the deficit by “almost three-quarters.” As noted, that has been proven to be a flat out lie.
This is pure fiction. Obama has doubled the national debt, and it’s not because he cut the deficit. Rather, he spent staggering amounts of money in his first months in office–which he assigns, dishonestly, to the previous fiscal year, under George W. Bush.
He “cut” (i.e. spent more gradually) from that spending, but only under protest, after Republicans took the House in 2010.
Under President Obama’s presidency, our deficit has skyrocketed more than 50% to almost $13 trillion. With these policies, we also see that his plans and agendas will continue to add more debt as he remains in office for a few more months. When Obama was sworn into office on January 20, 2009, the publicly held debt was $6.307 trillion. As of this week, our deficit has reached a record high of $12.922 trillion. These are the policies and agendas that Hillary Clinton praises and will use if she wins this election. She is on record praising Obama for this and has admitted that she will align closely with him if she wins this election.
This is what we can expect under a Hillary Clinton presidency.
